Methodology

Altanova complements the expertise and experience of facility engineering staff to provide a phased methodology with comprehensive solutions, appropriate to our clients’ objectives, budgets, and the opportunities inherent in their facilities and processes.

Assess

We benchmark similar facilities and processes, and evaluate best practices to accelerate learning and inform the development of innovative solutions. We also map existing resource use—energy, water, feed stocks, emissions and waste—throughout each process, to establish a baseline and for use in subsequent analysis.

Streamline

There are often numerous low- and no-cost operational and maintenance enhancements with significant paybacks that can be quickly implemented by existing facility staff. The savings from these improvements can be used to fund subsequent studies, and more capital-intensive improvements.

Innovate & Evaluate

We work closely with site engineering and operations staff to identify process and technology options, and perform feasibility studies to demonstrate their application to the facility. We then conduct the necessary technical and scientific studies using advanced modeling and simulation to identify and quantify hidden opportunities to reduce resource use, environmental impacts, risks and costs.

Implement

Altanova completes the design and guides the construction of approved systems. We also ensure the optimal commissioning of systems, and implement robust measurement and verification (M&V) to assist operators and managers to optimize system performance, and diagnose problems that might otherwise remain as long-term operating costs.
