  • Benchmark Corporate Data Center portfolio - August 25, 2010

Altanova is benchmarking the data center portfolio of a leading bio-pharma company to support the optimization of IT infrastructure. The performance optimization strategy is focused on relocation and design to reduce operating costs and environmental impacts (nationwide).

IT infrastructure is a major source of inefficiency in corporate energy use and GHG emissions. The EPA has determined that energy efficiency improvements of up to 50% are possible in most cases, with attractive payback and  without compromising performance.

A Climate Declaration is a single-issue ISO-defined Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) focused on Climate Change potential. Based on Altanova's Life Cycle analysis (LCA) on architectural solar control film products, Bekaert Specialty Films is the first U.S. firm to obtain this type of third-party reviewed declaration which corresponds to the highest level of transparency and disclosure about the environmental impact of a product or service. Please check Bekaert Specialty Films Press Release and find out more at Climatedec.

Because BSF sell their films all over the planet, our work has taken in account the specificities of each regions of the globes (climate, insolation, energy grid, transportation, etc.). See the article in the French economic newspaper La Tribune (French, and English translation) about the impact of the product and the analysis.

With the help of Altanova, BSF is one of the very first company worlwide to prove that their business has an overall net positive impact on climate change! • Mandatory US Greenhouse Gas Reporting - November 17, 2009

Starting in 2010, approximately 10,000 facilities in the United States will be required to report their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions under the final EPA rule.

Under the rule, suppliers of fossil fuels and industrial greenhouse gases, manufacturers of vehicles and engines, and facilities with annual GHG emissions of 25,000 metric tonnes or more will be required to submit annual reports. The first reporting period starts January 1, 2010, and the first submission to EPA is due by March 31, 2010.

Does this rule apply to your facility? This Applicability Tool will help you answer the question.

Our carbon management team would be pleased to review your GHG reporting obligations further and help you manage the business risks and opportunities associated with climate change.

  • New Report on the Economy of Energy Efficiency - October 10, 2009

According to a new report by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE), industrial sector energy savings remain untouched by many existing publicly-funded energy efficiency programs. Energy efficiency in the industrial sector represents a low-cost opportunity compared with other sectors, but operating successful programs requires different approaches than are traditionally applied in other sectors, according to the study. Consuming nearly 32 percent of the nation’s energy in 2007, the US industrial sector offers significant opportunities for energy savings and reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.

  • Altanova Contributes to Qatar Energy Efficiency - September 15, 2009

Altanova has been retained to develop schematic and compliance energy models for over 1,300,000 square feet of new office buildings in Qatar. Our team employed an innovative methodology to simulate the complex external skin that shades the glass facade from high levels of solar heat gain typical of the region. The simulations have determined that various energy conservation measures can be effective in this climate, but energy recovery ventilation (ERV) is not one of them, due to the high internal heat loads.
