Commissioning and retro-commissioning
We assist owners to ensure the correct installation and optimal operation of building MEP systems and equipment through our Enhanced and Fundamental Commissioning services for new buildings, and Retro-Commissioning services for existing facilities.
- - Commissioning is required for LEED projects, and is increasingly being sought by owners to enhance the performance of existing buildings.
- - For existing buildings, retro-commissioning requires a relatively modest upfront investment.
According to a study by Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL), the average cost for retrocommissioning is $0.30 per square foot, and the median payback time is a little more than a year. This is not surprising, considering that the median energy savings is 16 percent. And those savings last: energy and water savings tend to persist over at least a 3-to-5 year timeframe.
