Leonardo Karrer is an expert in energy efficiency and sustainability.

Throughout the course of his career, Leonardo has been a consultant for the New York City Mayor’s Office of Long Term Planning and Sustainability on energy efficiency and retrofitting issues, an adviser for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai on climate change problems connected to U.S.-owned businesses in China, and a researcher for Columbia University –where he also is lecturer in environmental economics– on a variety of projects involving cap-and-trade legislation and carbon management analyses.

Previously, he was with PwC working on energy and sustainability projects for Global 500 companies for the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Energy, the OECD to study socio-economic impacts of the E.U. open borders policies, and the Italian Ministry for the Environment as a research assistant in the energy consumption task force.

He is currently a Senior Consultant at TrustElement, a boutique consulting firm with a focus on energy efficiency and sustainability. Leonardo holds master degrees in energy and environmental policy from both Columbia University and the London School of Economics, and a BA in Economics from the University of Rome “La Sapienza”.
